I WANT TO LEAVE A LEGACY FOR YOU ALL. SO I'M GOING TO USE THIS MOMENT TO TELL THE REST OF YOU: SUCCESS IS NOT ABOUT REACHING THE TOP, BUT HOW FAR YOU RAN TO GET THERE. How many times have you thought about your dreams, and felt a little hopeless, or defeated? How many times have you looked at other people with the same goals as you, and seen how they accomplished them so much faster, or easier? It is so easy to get caught up in the success of others, that we lose our passion to achieve our own goals.
It is important to remember that YOU define success. Success is not about reaching the top, but how far you ran to get there. Think of your goal as a mountain. Other people may have the same goal as you, and you all start together at the bottom. You work hard to climb your way up, you look over to see that some of the others just took an escalator straight to the top, and you get so caught up in the escalator and how they got up to the top so fast, that you end up stuck in one spot. Every single goal of yours, will almost always have someone else who wants the same thing. What may have worked for the people before you, may not work for you. There is always more than one way to be successful, so focus on what works for YOU. Don't keep thinking about switching methods because it worked for another person, think about the path you choose and which one is easy to YOU. Stairs, escalators, and elevators all go up. When you reach the top of the mountain, remember that the best lessons and the best stories happened on the way up, not necessarily just on top.

Rome wasn't built in a day. Probably would have been nice if it was, but as they say, good things come to those who wait. If you ask me, you have to do more than just wait. Being "successful" looks different for everyone, but I believe all goals share some common attributes. I believe successful people are, hardworking, dedicated, patient, and confident! Let's break that down.
Let's start some mental prep for your goal. Picture it in your mind, and start with number one, hardworking. Does your goal require mental work like studying? Or maybe physical work, like being outdoors or hitting the gym? Hard work can be time consuming, that brings us to dedicated. How much of your time are you willing to put towards preparing for your goal? Is your goal your number one priority or is there some more important things to take care of in your day to day? Remember, Rome wasn't built in just one day, consider your time management and how you can incorporate some "Goal getting" into your schedule without being overworked or stressed! Dedication is different for all of us. For some it's daily work, for others its weekly, there is always more than one way to be successful! Now let's move into number three, patient. Remember that thing I said about Rome? exactly. Just like people, our goals are all unique. Results may take time to notice, if noticeable results even apply to your goal! Good things come to those who wait. I will admit, being patient is a struggle for me sometimes. Who likes waiting after all? No one likes failing either. If your goal is something you truly want, the waiting is always worth it in the end. Last but not least, you have to be CONFIDENT! If you doubt your ability to reach your goal, you probably wont. A positive mind set is a huge part of being successful, if you think you can do it, you'll figure out a way to get it done. Now get out there and climb that mountain ]. |
